Groundswell of support for Miller continues as state’s largest LGBTQ civil rights organization praises her as a “fearless champion”
Kathy Miller’s campaign for Assembly District 13 announced today the endorsement of Equality California, the civil rights organization dedicated to advancing justice for, and protecting the rights of, LGBTQ individuals everywhere.
Rick Zbur, Executive Director of Equality California, said: “With the Trump Administration doing all it can to undermine the rights of LGBTQ Americans, Kathy Miller will be a fearless champion for the LGBTQ community. In the Assembly, we can count on Kathy to stand up for marginalized communities and ensure we have a voice on the issues that impact our lives. Kathy’s compassionate and intelligent approach to leadership makes her the clear choice for State Assembly, and Equality California proudly supports her.”
With 800,000 members, Equality California is the nation’s largest statewide LGBTQ civil rights organization. Equality California brings the voices of LGBTQ people and allies to institutions of power in California and across the United States, striving to create a world that is healthy, just, and fully equal for all LGBTQ people. EQCA advances civil rights and social justice by inspiring, advocating, and mobilizing through an inclusive movement that works tirelessly on behalf of those they serve.
“It is an honor to receive the support of Equality California,” said Kathy Miller. “It is clear that the federal government is determined to expand institutional discrimination while attempting to tear down marginalized groups to unconscionable new lows. In the Assembly, I look forward to partnering with EQCA and others in standing against the arcane policies of Donald Trump and Mike Pence and will work to advance justice and defend the rights of LGBTQ people everywhere.”
EQCA joins a growing list of organizations and individuals who have thrown their early and strong support behind Kathy Miller for State Assembly, including Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte, the California Democratic Party, State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Assemblymember Susan Eggman, Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs and others.
