

Vice Mayor Katherine Miller is currently serving her first term on the Stockton City Council. She was elected in November 2008 to represent Council District 2, in north Stockton, for the 2009-2012 term of office. This is her first elected office.

After relocating to Stockton from Seattle, Washington in 1997, Kathy
established an interior design firm, Bonniebrook Interiors. In addition to
her design work, Kathy volunteered with a variety of non-profit
organizations. From 1997 – 2006 she served First Night Stockton, the City’s
annual New Year’s Eve Community Celebration, as Sales Coordinator,
Programming and Publicity Coordinator, Sponsorship Coordinator and
eventually supervised all aspects of the development and production of the
event as President of the Board of Directors.
In 2004, Kathy became the Executive Director for the Downtown Stockton Alliance, a position she held for more than four years. The Alliance is a property and business improvement district, with an annual budget of over $1 million, whose mission is to develop, promote and maintain historic downtown Stockton as a regional business, cultural and entertainment destination. Kathy supervised a staff of over thirty with operations including maintenance of downtown sidewalks and public spaces; roaming Hospitality Guides to provide directions and assistance to downtown visitors; a variety of marketing efforts such as publication of a monthly newspaper, The Downtowner, regular columns in the local paper, The Record, radio jingles, print advertising and interactive websites www.downtownstockton.org and www.myspace.com/downtownstockton; economic development programs to attract businesses, developers and investors; and advocacy to provide input on development of public policy to support the priorities of downtown property and business owners.
After taking office in 2009, Kathy was elected to the League of California Cities Board of Directors as an At-Large Director and to the Board of Directors of the Library & Literacy Foundation of San Joaquin. Kathy is a graduate of the Great Valley Center Leadership Institute, Leadership Stockton and California State University San Bernardino Downtown Association Professional Certificate Program, holds a three-year A.A. in Interior Design and is a recipient of the 2005 California Association of Leadership Programs Distinguished Leader Award, 2004 Leadership Stockton Outstanding Alumni Award for Community Service and 2000 Northern California Home & Design Achievement Award. She has served on the Executive Committee of the Business Leadership Summit, San Joaquin Partnership Economic Development Task Force and the Board of Directors and the Government Relations Council of the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce.
Kathy has been married to husband, Karl for 34 years. They have three grown children, all graduates of Lincoln High School and public universities in California and Washington. Andy is a musician in New York City; Adam and his wife, Devon, are artists in Los Angeles; and Katie is a Fourth Grade teacher at Stockton Collegiate International School in downtown Stockton.
